Oh nooooo……! As Time Magazine reported today, Rebecca Black’s “record label”,  Ark Music Factory is indeed, a factory that “produces” the pop-stardom dreams of pre-teen girls with rich parents.  Is this perhaps- the commercial equivalent to the NYC hipster artist types we see on a daily basis whose parents buy them art careers in big cities  ( but like..a non conformist way..duh)  —-by paying their rent, student loans and production costs for years…and years…and years….and years…..while the rest of us steal and go to jail? With class/arts undoubtedly on my mind lately all of this makes me respect my artists peers ( whether their musicians or playwrights or singers or directors or dancers or actors or weirdo installation artists/all of the above) who work and work and work and keep working ( even if they don’t get anywhere, but because they can’t not do it, and because they have soul) all the more.

In AMF’s  launch party video above- we can check out live performances from other Ark Artists like CJ FAM (who just wants to be an ordinary pop star you guys), Madison Bray ( who has a lot of girl swagger OKAY?????), Sophia (who sings a really intense song…like about rejection ala “rejection, rejection, i’m losing my mind and i’m feeling the pain”), and Kaya (who has been singing for like, a really long time). They’ve made it you guys. They’ve really, really like, made it.
